Road accidents are a leading cause of death in Ghana. It is a fact that the poor state of roads, lack of proper road signage and sketchy traffic law enforcement are major contributing factors.

Needless to say that no amount of road safety campaigns can prevent this type of incidents if there are no traffic lights, road markings or active policing to enforce motor traffic laws.

Expending resources on exhibition and fancy digitization projects will not lead to any meaningful improvement in the life of the Ghanaian. Instead, we need to take the time to tackle the basics i.e. good old-fashion infrastructure, road safety, reliable utilities and accessible healthcare.

How many lives should be lost because our roads lack proper road markings and signage?
